Accommodations near the Stelvio

The Stelvio Pass is one of the toughest climbs in the Alpes, because of the length and steep slopes. You can climb the Stelvio from three sides. The Prato side is the most well known due to its 48 hairpins. We have chosen for accommodations from the Bormio side. This side is frequently visited in the Giro d’Italia.

We have chosen Bormio as location becuase it’s a central point for the most climbs in the area. The Passo di Gavia starts in Bormio, the Mortirolo is only 20 km away, and you have Bormio 2000 starting there. Also other nice routes with Livigno included can be done from Bormio. Bormio is also a nice mountain city with good facilities (bike rentals), bars and restaurants, swimming pool and wellness facilities. Bormio breathes cycling.

We have two accommodation near Bormio. Casa Gavia (3,5km) is a appartment building where you can book you appartement (2 or 3 rooms) with self-catering. Hotel Cima Piazzi is based in Isolaccia (7km) a small mountain village. You can book this hotel with half board option.
