Medical statement
You are required to submit a medical statement when participating in the cyclosportive. This can be organised by having a sports medical examination carried out by, for example, an SMA or another (sports) doctor. If you have a competition licence with one of the associations below, this is also sufficient (KNWU or NTB). You can upload this medical statement via the organisation’s portal after you have received a notification of registration.
NB: use the concept medical statement of the organising party of the Marmotte, which can also be found at this link.

This offer is covered by the STO Garant guarantee. You can find the conditions of this guarantee scheme on the STO Garant website. Marmotte Sports Program
Do you want to be well prepared at the start of the Marmotte Granfondo? Our Sports Program prepares you for the Marmotte Granfondo. You will explore several mountains, you will receive advice about the route, nutrition, the weather and other relevant matters. You will have support from a support car during these days and benefit from sports nutrition and sports drinks along the way. In addition, it is of course also very pleasant!
You will be guided by several very experienced Marmotte riders. Every day you can choose between a shorter and longer route, you determine the speed and intensity yourself. Sufficient freedom for the best personal interpretation and don’t do too much! Are you unsure about the length of the route or something else? Then ask the trainers for advice; that’s what they are there for. After the training, a delicious and healthy plate of pasta will be ready for you in the chalet and you can be treated by a masseur (for a fee). Before dinner there is a ‘meet’ to discuss the day and there is plenty of room to ask questions.
The Sports Program lasts 3 or 4 days and starts on Tuesday. Are you staying with us for 6 nights? Then you start on Wednesday (3-day program).
The cycling guides of Chalet Beyond:
- Are professional, experienced and involved
- Have a lot of knowledge of the area
- Have cycled the Marmotte themselves (and won gold) and really know everything about good preparation
- Have first aid knowledge
- Offer a support car for your gear, snacks & sports drinks
Program
Route Day 1
We start at an easy pace; the first day is about getting used to the climbing, avoiding excessive strain on the legs, and warming up in a relaxed manner. The Col d’Ornon is the perfect mountain for this: it never gets very steep and isn’t too long (12 km).
It is an out-and-back route, so we finish with the climb back to base. A few kilometers of the Oz Station climb are somewhat steeper, but the ascent offers nice variety; the middle section can be described as a steady, rolling climb. And at the top—you guessed it—a deliciously refreshing drink and a tasty plate of pasta await.
Route Day 2
Today, we’ll explore the first climb of the Marmotte: the Col du Glandon. It’s a stunning *hors catégorie* (beyond category) climb offering plenty of variety. Although it’s a long ascent, the changing terrain—including a flat kilometer after 7 km near Rivier d’Allemont—makes the time fly. We’ll be waiting for you at the summit with refreshments so you can replenish those burned calories and refill your water bottles. You can also hand over items like extra clothing or spare gear to the support car.
We recommend calling it a day after this climb, but if you haven’t done it yet, this is also a great opportunity to tackle the Oz Station climb. See you at the top!
Route Day 3
It is time to tackle a large section of the Alpe d’Huez climb, approaching from the Villard Reculas side. Unless you are a seasoned expert, this will be a first-time ascent for (almost) everyone. It is a steady, smooth climb, so you won’t have to put excessive strain on your legs.
After a beautiful “balcony” section (Pas de la Confession) offering stunning views over the Oisans region, we reach the village of Huez—situated on *the* famous mountain—between bends 7 and 8. We then descend to bend 4, where we pick up the balcony route again via the magnificent Balcon d’Auris.
Once back on the main road, there is a short climb towards Les Deux Alpes, after which we take the final balcony route of the day via Bons. By now, your idea of what a “balcony road” is will likely have changed. The return journey consists mainly of descents and flat stretches leading back to the car in Allemond.
Route Day 4
The motto for the final 48 hours is to go easy on the legs and conserve your energy. That said, a light spin in the valley certainly doesn’t hurt—just to keep the engine running and the legs turning smoothly.
It’s a lovely—and above all, sociable—ride to Lac Bleu, a beautiful spot in the forest near Bourg d’Oisans. We’ve been eating well all week, and today is no exception; we’re treating you to a delicious lunch at this scenic location. Care to join us?
